Bertha Navarro began her career directing documentaries, but after a short period of time she started working as a film producer. In the essence of his work is guided by a deep moral sense, of denunciation and hope for a better world.
In 1980, his film El secreto won the Ariel award for Best Short Film and a few years later, he was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe for his film Gaby: A true story, starring Liv Ullman. This achievement allowed him to be the first mexican director, in many years, to open a significant path in Hollywood.
Arturo Ripstein y Rosen was born in Mexico City. He obtained the National Prize of Sciences and Arts in the area of Fine Arts in 1997, he is the second filmmaker to have achieved it (the first one was awarded to Luis Buñuel). In 2014, the National Council for Culture and the Arts (CONACULTA) recognized him in 2013 with the Fine Arts Medal for his 50 years of experience; He also received the Golden Ariel.
In 1965, at the age of 21 years old, he made his directorial debut with the film Tiempo de Morir – a script written by Carlos Fuentes and Gabriel García Márquez that was turned into a western. She co-directed, along side José Buil, the film “La línea paterna”, an awarded documentary that in 1995 made her won three Ariel awards: Best Screenplay, Best Plot and Best Documentary. The film was also an official selection in the Venice Film Festival.
She directed the Spanish-French-Mexican co-production “El Cometa” (1997). During 2000 and 2006, Sistach worked on a film trilogy: “Perfume de violetas, (nadie te oye)“, 2000; “Manos libres (nadie te habla)“, 2004; “La niña en la piedra (nadie te ve)“, 2006. The three films deal with the complexity of socio-cultural problems that are related to male oppression, mainly those focusing around young women, and the influences of their education and daily living.
Pedro Armendáriz Jr.

Diana Bracho made her professional debut in theater with the play Israfel written by Abelardo Rodríguez and directed by Héctor Azar. In 1973, she premiered in television with the series Les miserables and Mi primer amor; in cinema Bracho made her debut with the film El castillo de la pureza directed by Arturo Ripstein, a film that became an international success.
In television, she has starred in various series and soap operas such as Cuna de lobos, Cadenas de amargura, El vuelo del águila, Retrato de familia, El derecho de nacer, among others. She presided as the president of The Mexican Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences, AMACC (2002 – 2006).

She has been nominated four times for the Ariel Award, two for the Best Actress award (1997, 2000) and two for best supporting actress award (2001 and 2003).
María Eugenia Llamas “La Tucita”
Mexican actress of the so-called Golden Age of Mexican cinema. She began her acting career at the age of 4, playing a role in the movie Los tres huastecos, starring Pedro Infante. This performance earned her a nomination to the Ariel award. The charismatic role of La Tucita was developed in the films Dicen que soy mujeriego (1949) y El seminarista (1949), both directed by Roberto Rodríguez and starred by Infante.
She learned the art of oral narration on stage and hence joined the group Los Cuenteros de Garzón. In 1987 she made her debut in Mexico City with her own show of oral narration and the poems Cuento con la vida. María Eugenia Llamas also participated in television series such as Gutierritos (1958) and Grandes finales de telenovelas (2010), as well as in the documentary ¡Pedro Infante vive! (2007), in which was narrated the memories and anecdotes of Pedro Infante, next to El ídolo de Guamúchil.
