The Monterrey International Film Festival (ficmonterrey) is pleased to announce significant changes in management, in the frame of its twentieth anniversary. Diana Patricia Cobos Pérez has been appointed as the new general manager of the festival, thus marking the beginning of a new stage of growth and international projection.
With a solid training in Communication and Media from ITESM, Diana Cobos brings 15 years of experience in audiovisual production and post-production, as well as in public relations in the film industry. Her leadership will be essential to continue the successful trajectory of the ficmonterrey.
“I am excited and committed to this new responsibility. My goal is to take ficmonterrey to new horizons, maintaining its essence, promoting the production of national cinema and its exhibition,” said Diana Cobos, new general manager of the festival.
Her predecessors, Juan Manuel González, founder and director of the ficmonterrey until the 2022 edition, and Janeth Aguirre, executive director since 2006 and general director in 2023, have been key to the development and consolidation of the festival; even achieving its successful completion during difficult times, such as the COVID pandemic, during the 2020, 2021 and 2022 editions.
The Monterrey International Film Festival, the most important in northern Mexico, was created in 2005 after five editions of what was the Voladero International Film and Video Festival; and since then it has been held every year, exhibiting to date more than 3,800 films from around the world.
For almost 20 years, the festival has participated in countless national and international film events; and in its realization it has had the participation of important figures from the national and international industry. This year the festival also announces the inclusion in its programming of films with environmental and women themes with the aim of raising awareness about these issues, as well as a section of films for the little ones in an effort to create spaces for younger audiences.
The ficmonterrey team is excited about this new stage and is committed to continuing to provide quality cinematographic experiences to its audience, maintaining its mission of promoting cinematographic culture and art in the region.
